LCK 2026: Three finalists look at each other with caution ahead of the finals

The three teams competing in the 2026 LCK Finals came together at CHZZK LoL Park in Jonggak for an unusually candid media day. T1, Gen.G Esports and Hanwha Life Esports each sent their head coach and two players, and everyone was quick to name specific problems posed by the other teams. Gen.G head coach Yoo Sang-wook said T1’s ability to create variables is very high, while Hanwha Life Esports are difficult because of their aggressive plays, bold attempts and tower dives. He singled out Zeus and T1's bot lane as major concerns. Hanwha Life head coach Yoon Sung-young focused on the AD carry battle, praised Gen.G’s comeback ability, and admitted T1 have become harder to read through top-side pressure. T1 interim head coach Im Jae-hyeon said his team is tracking Hanwha Life’s early top-lane priority and snowball potential, while Gen.G’s organic macro play is something they must watch closely. He named Gumayusi and Zeus as wide-pool threats and pointed to Gen.G's mid-jungle duo as a key preparation focus. AD carries Ruler, Gumayusi and Peyz also evaluated each other. Ruler and Gumayusi both praised Peyz for his sharp teamfight instincts and mechanical plays. Peyz said the two veterans bring overwhelming experience and data into every game. Ruler called Gumayusi a strong laner with smart reads, while Gumayusi credited Ruler’s accumulated knowledge, damage angles and consistency. Both veterans said playing smart matters more than mechanical firefights. Kiin, Kanavi and Keria joined the conversation. Kiin highlighted Kanavi’s unpredictable aggression and Keria’s unique teamfight connection rate. Kanavi praised Kiin’s versatility in both carry and tank roles. Keria agreed that Kanavi is hard to read and described Kiin as flexible enough to handle many matchups. Hanwha Life Esports reached the finals by coming from behind against T1, winning 3-2 after trailing 1-2. Gen.G then beat Hanwha Life 3-1 in the upper bracket final, with Chovy’s Vex earning praise. Gen.G enter from the upper bracket with a structural advantage, while Hanwha Life had to fight through the lower bracket. The media day revealed no easy answers. Every team studied the others closely, and no one treated their opponent as beatable. The final will test not just mechanics, but how well each team’s game plan handles the specific threats they have already identified.
